Albert Park is one of the Melbourne’s Bayside jewels. While you may not be able to see the bay from the whole Bayside region, the water is certainly within walking distance of home, or a short jaunt on public transport. While the name Bayside typically conjures images of Brighton mansions and Sandringham Yacht Club, the region is surprisingly diverse. The bustle of South Melbourne, sophistication of South Yarra and boho chic of St Kilda (Luna Park, Palais Theatre) give way to the more family focussed Elwood, the water-side mansions of Brighton and the neighbourhoods that stretch south to Patterson Lakes. If the commute up the Nepean Highway doesn’t appeal, the Bayside area is serviced by trams as far South as Brighton, the Sandringham and Frankston railway lines and buses.
