Cecil Hills is in Sydney’s South West, Sydney’s growth corridor since the mid 20th century and still its fastest growing region. Once a baking sea of red brick and tile, older suburbs are now shaded by 30 and 40 year-old trees. Some large semi-rural properties still exist on the outskirts but most homes are typical suburban houses, with medium and some high density close to commercial hubs. Work opportunities come from large industrial sites drawn to the area by land availability, and the development of Badgery’s Creek Airport is a major confidence booster. Now demographics are changing. The children and grandchildren of the early residents are moving in, valuing proximity to family over more prestigious locations, and new residents are drawn by low property prices and work opportunities. Transport to the CBD is lengthy by train or car but many residents work locally and avoid the CBD altogether.
