Suburb Profile for Eastlakes
Eastlakes is in the new and rapidly growing Inner South – possibly Sydney’s smallest region and soon to be its most densely populated. Plans for new high-rise developments along the Eveleigh railway corridor will complement buildings along the airport line, between Surry Hills and Mascot. Suburban Mascot and its new high-density core seem to work well together which provides hope for Victorian enclaves of Redfern, Alexandria Park, Zetland and Beaconsfield and their high-rise neighbours. Night life and basic services can be sparse in parts, though never a long walk away, and always improving. Some quirky dining venues are becoming drawcards in their own right. Commuting to the CBD is best done by rail or bus, though bike and foot are realistic options. Small neighbourhood parks and playgrounds dot the region and Moore Park in the East and Sydney Park on the Western side provide acreage.
