What's in the Upside property report?
Leppington is in Macarthur, Sydney’s growth region, but also a region that is growing towards Sydney. It’s named after the Macarthur family who famously bred the Merino sheep locally, and many of Sydney’s wealthiest families have been involved in its development – especially Sir Warwick Fairfax who ran Harrington Park as a nursery and stud from the 1940s. Harrington Park state is still in Fairfax family hands but significant parts have been subdivided to become the suburb of Harrington Park. Campbelltown and Camden were originally centres in their own rights but their expansion along Camden Valley Way and the Hume Motorway (M31) is gradually meeting Sydney’s relentless southward expansion. Italian and Croatian immigration after WWII has given the area some multicultural richness. The ability to commute – albeit over a distance – to Sydney’s East and West, and South Coast centres of industry like Wollongong and Port Kembla is a major drawcard to workers whose jobs are mobile.
