Pemulwuy

Pemulwuy is in Western Sydney, one of the oldest and newest parts of Sydney. Parramatta was an early seat of Government and contains some of Australia’s oldest European buildings, but vast tracts of Western Sydney were agricultural land as recently as the 1970s and 1980s. Post WWII demand for property, and Olympics driven gentrification around Homebush have created a region with plenty of work opportunities and a population to service the jobs. Transport to the Sydney CBD is by car (traffic can be heavy), train, or ferry from Parramatta. But many workers ignore the CBD entirely, in favour of the Parramatta CBD or working in the greater Parramatta catchment. In fact, Western Sydney has been described as a separate city, focussed on Parramatta, and the plans of the Greater Sydney Commission, released in 2016, seem to be further cementing that idea.
